We are very excited that violist and violinist Luosha Fang is able to return this season and give ASO audiences the opportunity to experience her astounding virtuosity on two instruments. You got a taste of her violin at this season’s Sunset at the Abbey. Come to Command Performance and be rewarded with stunning performances on both instruments — along with the music of composer/pianist Michael Djupstrom, who joins for the program.

Schumann: Fantasiestücke, Op.73 (viola and piano)
Nishimura: Fantasia on ‘Song of the Birds’, for viola
Djupstrom : Walimai (viola and piano)
Bartok: Romanian dances (violin and piano)
Suk: Four Pieces for Violin and Piano

Following her first prize win at the (very prestigious) 2018 Tokyo International Viola Competition, Ms. Fang won the viola section of the (very prestigious) Vienna Classic Strings competition in 2020.

Fang plays on a 1734 Pietro Guarneri violin and a Dominique Peccatte bow. She plays on the ‘Josefowitz’ 1690 Andrea Guarneri viola. You can learn more about Luosha Fang here and more about the Vienna Classic Strings competition here.
