Andrew Price

Performances:

Andrew Price is principal oboist for the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, principal oboe for the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and Lecturer of oboe at Boston University School of Music. He regularly plays with the Boston Pops and Boston Symphony Orchestras.

Mr. Price is a Boston University graduate, where he studied oboe with the late Ralph Gomberg, principal oboe of the Boston Symphony. His teachers also include Jonathan Dlouhy, former principal oboe with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Larry Thorstenberg, former English Horn of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

From 1984 to 1988, Mr. Price was a substitute second oboe with the Atlanta Symphony, under the direction of the late Robert Shaw. From 1997 until 2007, he was an assistant faculty member of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and now teaches oboe for the BUTI Young Artists Orchestra program. His playing is featured on the documentary series The American Experience, produced by WGBH.
