Sunset at the Abbey — Live and In-Person!

This year’s “Abbey” concert fills the stage with an all-star roster of outstanding musicians, the return of Luosha Fang, and a lush classical program that will delight you. Hosted and led by ASO Music Director, Jin Kim. A very special concert!

Click & read below for complete concert information. (Click here for updates about the 2021/22 Season.)

If you’re familiar with Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, you know it’s one of the most popular works of all time. A classical “mega-hit” for good reason! How often, though, do you experience it completely?

We’re pairing it with a selection from Argentinian composer Astor Piazzola’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires — and Glastonbury Abbey’s beautiful surroundings — for an exciting, relaxing afternoon of music (yes, both!) and a fresh take on this classical “classic.” There are other additions, as well!

If you’re not familiar with The Four Seasons, this concert is your opportunity to become acquainted and fall in love!

Program:
Bartók: Selections from Forty-Four Duos for Two Violins, Sz. 98 (arranged for 2 violas)
Leclair: Selections from Sonata for Two Violins in E Minor, Op. 3, No. 5
Haydn: “II. Andante” – Piano Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI:1
Balbastre: “La Bellaud”
Bach: “IV. Sarabande “ – Suite No. 1 for Unaccompanied Cello, BWV 1007
Gershwin: “Embraceable You”; “Fascinating Rhythm”

[intermission]

Vivaldi: Quattro Stagioni – The Four Seasons, Op. 8, Nos. 1-4
I. La primavera (Spring) in E Major, RV 269
II. L’estate (Summer) in G Minor, RV 315
III. L’autunno (Autumn) in F Major, RV 293
IV. L’inverno (Winter) in F minor, RV 297
