Andrew Bass, horn, is an active teacher and performer in both New England and his native Ohio.

Along with serving as 3rd horn in the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Bass has performed with groups such as the United States Coast Guard Band, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, and other New England based ensembles.

A successful chamber and solo performer, Mr. Bass was a finalist in the International Horn Symposium Premiere Soloist Competition and winner of the Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra Competition. His chamber group also won first prize in the New England Conservatory Honors Competition.

He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Horn Performance from The New England Conservatory, studying under Jason Snider and James Sommerville, the principal and 4th horn of the Boston Symphony. Other other primary teachers include Erik Ralske, the principal horn of the Metropolitan Opera, and Kevin Rivard, the principal horn of the San Francisco Ballet and co principal of the San Francisco Opera.

Mr. Bass returned to live in Cincinnati in 2020, but remains active in the New England area. His current teaching positions include horn professor at Southern New Hampshire University, Winchester Community Music School, and Manchester Community Music School.
